Our Annual Family Fun weekend, which is Saturday, October 12th  through Sunday, October 13th, is now two full days of activities. On Saturday, we will celebrate the 70-year history of the School of Conservation from the early days to the present. We have assembled an exciting lineup of speakers to share their recollections of the milestones and accomplishments of the school throughout its long history.

On Sunday, our traditional Family Fun activities will be offered including the climbing wall, confidence course, archery, fly fishing and boating. This year we are adding two new American Heritage activities: Spinning and Weaving conducted by the Sussex County Weaving Guild, and blacksmithing.

Our own John Williams and his staff at Meals on Wheels will be catering meals for the entire weekend. We will be dining in Big Timbers, which is sure to conjure up nostalgic memories for many of our guests. Big Timbers will also be available for our evening campfire and sing-a-long if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Event details

Like the restoration of Piney Point, this celebratory weekend is a huge undertaking for a small Friends organization. We are relying on membership dues and donations to fund this, and all of our programs. If you have not renewed your membership in the Friends of the NJSOC, please consider doing so now. If you are able to make a donation to assist in offsetting the costs of the construction of the memorial kiosk, we would welcome your contribution.  Every dollar you contribute goes directly into the programs we offer and our efforts to support and promote the School of Conservation. You can renew or donate here!

We hope this event is on your calendar for October 2019. Please watch this website, Facebook page, and email for details and registration information. We look forward to seeing you and, as always, thank you for being a Friend.
