Integrating Native Plants into your Home Landscape

October 8 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

$12.00
Improve your local ecosystem with native plants! Some attractive and pollinator-friendly possibilities are within reach.

Join Master Gardener Barbara Rosenberg as she introduces you to the big impact of adding native plants to your gardens and lawns. What makes native plants natives? Why are they easier to care for? You will gain an understanding of their benefits for soil, rainwater management, pollinators and more.

This ecological learning event is for gardeners who want to be part of a conservation project empowering biodiversity one yard at a time.

Imagine…if each of us did one planter of native plants, or one corner of our garden, the impact would be enormous. We would be helping to re-create the “corridor” of connected properties that existed originally before buildings and roads. We would be part of a “homegrown national park” as suggested in Doug Tallamy’s book, “Nature’s Best Hope”.

This event is for adults and families. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

PLEASE NOTE: No pets are permitted on the NJSOC Campus.

The Friends of the New Jersey School of Conservation is a U.S. tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. When NJSOC closed in July 2020, the Friends launched a campaign to save it. This ultimately led to negotiations with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, owners of NJSOC, to obtain an interim management agreement for the School. This agreement was finalized in April 2021, and the Friends of NJSOC are proud to offer limited programming at NJSOC with the help of dedicated and talented volunteers. We are pleased to register you for one of our programs!
