The focus on social and emotional learning (SEL) has increased for teachers and districts in the past several years as student wellness has become a key consideration in classroom environments.
The NJ School of Conservation, a leader in the field of environmental education (EE) that has taught youth to develop empathy, knowledge and problem solving strategies for almost 75 years, is offering a professional development workshop to share what we’ve learned.
During this workshop, teachers will:
– Learn about the NJ Department of Education’s SEL Competencies
– Understand how environmental education and SEL go hand in hand
– Develop skills and acquire resources to create SEL lessons and EE activities in the classroom
– Feel recharged and inspired after working alongside like-minded colleagues
– Experience what a NJSOC field experience is like for students
Fee includes continental breakfast, lunch and all workshop materials. Teachers may earn up to 6 professional development hours upon completion of this workshop.
